City of
Evart
Located about 15 minutes east of Reed City is quaint town of Evart. Evart was named in honor of the second setter who settled in the area, Perry Oliver “Frank” Everts. Though, the clerk misspelled the name to “Evart”, the misspelling was agreed upon and allowed to stand. Evart began as a strategic point for sorting timber that was floated down the Muskegon River. It was later organized as a city in 1930.
